ANCHIE Swim is built around environmentally conscious decisions. Just like you, we are passionate about protecting our oceans and planet. We strive to be ethical in our practices and are always researching and learning new ways to improve. Our goal is to always create products that are ethically made, high quality and sustainable.

The desire to protect our beautiful oceans and marine life is what inspired us to use a fabric that is both ethical and luxurious. We chose an innovative Italian textile called Carvico Vita, which is made of 100 % regenerated post-consumer waste. More specifically, ANCHIE swimwear consists of  22 % Elastane and 78 % ECONYL® - regenerated nylon, which the Slovenian company AquafilSLO d.o.o. recycles from discarded fishing nets and plastics in the oceans from around the world. Aquafil Slovenia is the only company in the world that has the technology to turn old fishing nets into regenerated nylon. This way we are able to ensure that none of our swimwear require first generation virgin nylon. Not only is our fabric sustainable, but of the highest quality and superior resistance to UV, chlorine and sun lotions. Our fabric has excellent shape retention and durability, which makes our swimwear last summer after summer.

Our collection of swimwear is designed in Slovenia, fabrics are sourced from Italy and constructed with love in Bali using small scale, ethical production by skilled and experienced hands that are working under fair conditions, receive well above minimum wage and are paid for 13 months per year. On top of that our workers are provided with free medical insurance for themselves and their family members. To avoid over production and waste, the collection is produced throughout the season, therefore we only produce what we can sell.

We are very mindful of our footprint on the earth, therefore we implement sustainable practices in our entire product line, including packaging system.

You will receive your package in a compostable and biodegradeable bag, made from corn starch, which means the bag will break down naturally within 90 days in a non toxic process in your home compost and garden waste. These mailing bags which can also be reused are from a company called NO ISSUE who contributes to global reforestation. For every order we make from them, they will plant a tree in areas that need it the most.

To reduce packaging waste, we send each swimwear in a re-useable ANCHIE cotton string bag, made from 100% recycled cotton. So not only do you have a pretty bag to store your swimmers in, you have helped give new life to old cotton, which you can re-use to store your bikinis, makeup, travel or beach essentials. Cotton is sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable. It is one of the easiest fabrics to decompose, especially if it’s 100% cotton. In the right compost, the material should be gone within 6 months.

Our swimwear does come with a plastic hygiene protection sticker. This is due to the fact of not being able to find 100% biodegradable or paper based materials for this. However, we are in the proccess of finding a solution for that as well.
